Oliver Laxe

Oliver Laxe was born in Paris in 1982. He graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. In 2007 he moved to Tangier where he created a 16mm film workshop called “Dao Byed” for children. This activity was the starting point for his first feature film, You are all captains which won the Fipresci award at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2010. He returned to Cannes in 2016 with his second film, Mimosas, the Way of the Atlas, which won the Grand Prix Nespresso at the Semaine de la Critique. In 2019, he directed the film Viendra le feu, which received the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival.
