Marie Losier

Based in Paris, filmmaker and curator Marie Losier (born in France in 1972) has worked in New York for 23 years and has presented her films and videos in a large number of museums, galleries, biennales and festivals. Marie Losier studied literature at the University of Nanterre (France, BA, 1995) and Fine Arts at Hunter College, City University of New York (MFA, 2003). She has made a number of film portraits on avant-garde directors, musicians and composers, such as the Kuchar brothers, Guy Maddin, Richard Foreman, Tony Conrad, Genesis P-Orridge, Alan Vega, Peter Hristoff, Peaches and Felix Kubin. Whimsical, poetic, dreamlike and unconventional, her films explore the life and work of these artists.

Hers films have been selected at festivals including Venice, Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, IDFA, Tribeca, CPH:DOX, Bafici and Torino, as well as in museums such as the Tate Modern (London), MoMA (NYC), the Centre Georges-Pompidou, the Cinémathèque française (Paris) and the Whitney Museum (NYC).
