BA. Film Directing (2017)

Julie Bellard

Director based in Geneva, Julie Bellard is a graduate of several schools, including the Geneva School of Decorative Arts (CFPAA). She continued her studies in the field of image and direction, first in Lyon (France), then at the HEAD - Geneva in the film department, and finally at the Visual Arts section of the HEAD in Work.Master. Each of her projects is a new essay, a path of reflection around the world that surrounds her, the fiction, the intimate, the documentary essay. Julie Bellard questions today’s world through reflections on social classes, taking as a starting point encounters with people and sometimes architectural places. She composes works with a personal or dystopian narrative, always with an ethical questioning in relation to the people she films and with whom she works. In 2017, she directed the short film 6129m2 (Selection AFFR film festival architecture Rotterdam 2018, Selection Dokfest Munich 2018, Selection Arquiteturas Film Festival Lisboa 2019) a film about how we build ourselves, facing the place, the house, the home, where we grew up. Julie Bellard also works with different artists in film/video and sound. Today she is starting a new process using video and live performance with experimental compositions. On the other hand, she continues to write two essay films.
